This innovative community-focused program is currently transforming 8 Rwandan schools, 172 teachers, and over 10,000 children.
Rwandan teachers play a vital role in rebuilding their society. Christian teachers in particular have an opportunity to train the next generation as godly leaders who can impact their nation. Over the span of their career a well trained teacher will significantly impact hundreds, perhaps thousands, of children.
Over the past four years, Wellspring has supported hundreds of Rwandan teachers in the profession and faith. The Whole School Development Program (WSDP) is an opportunity to build on this support and have a long-term nationwide impact on the entire way of thinking within the Rwandan education system.
What sets the program apart is its emphasis on the importance of engaging entire school communities to produce lasting results. It uses a Christian approach to improving school quality and teacher motivation through training in servant leadership, peace and reconciliation, quality education, exploring worldviews, and integration of values into the curriculum.
