On January 18th, I sat in on the first meeting of the new year for the Wellspring Academy Board. Dr. Nicholas Hitimana, the Board Chair, congratulated the other board members on a job well done. He compared their efforts so far to clearing the land of brush and tilling the soil. "Now the real job begins," he challenged. "Now is when we begin to sow the seed."
I thought about each of the 116 children that have entered the Wellspring Academy for the first time in 2007. The schools headmistress Rosette Murigande, and her teaching staff, have been given an important task. They will have an extraordinary influence on these young lives. If the first couple weeks of school is any indication that impact will be positive and long lasting.
Yesu ashimwe. We praise God for his goodness and ask him for guidance as the real challenge of this new Christian school begins.
