Merry Christmas from Wellspring! We have a lot to be thankful for this year. Hundreds of different people have contributed to make 2007 our best year yet and we have gained widespread support within Rwanda for our approach to improving the quality of education in Rwandan schools. We take the time to pause and thank God for his faithfulness.
We celebrate all God has done and anticipate the future. The foundation has been laid and we are seeing God multiply our efforts and increase our impact.
While we cannot hope to recognize everyone who has contributed but we do want to give special thanks to:
- The Bridge Evangelical Free Church in Fresno, California, who raised $94,000 for the Wellspring Academy, shipped a 20 ft. container with books, school supplies and sporting equipment to Rwanda, and sent two teams to engage with us in encouraging our Rwandan teachers, holding sports camps for the kids, putting the finishing touches on the Academy playground, and outfitting the computer laboratory and resource center. To learn more about the Bridge, go to www.thebridgefresno.com.
- The Bridgeway Foundation in Cambridge, Ontario, who helped Wellspring Senior Staff to pursue further education and have made a major investment over the next two years in the Whole School Development Program. Mark Peterson, Brent Fearon, and the rest of the Bridgeway staff have continually encouraged Wellspring towards greater maturity as an organization. Check out the Bridgeway Foundation at www.bridgewayfoundation.ca for a featured article on their partnership with Wellspring.
- Churches like Evangel Assembly in Kelowna, Cedar Grove Baptist in Surrey, Valley Presbyterian in Portland, The Park Pentecostal in Edmonton, and Faith Baptist in Vancouver for their ongoing commitment and financial support.
- All who participated in making the first annual Ben Farrant Memorial Cyclathon (Seattle to Portland) a great success…32 riders and many volunteers worked together to raise over $46,000 to build the final classroom building for the Wellspring Academy primary school.
- All of our faithful individual donors (who shall remain nameless to respect their privacy) who have given sacrificially this year. From mind-blowing personal donations and summer deck parties to donated yacht charters and paintings for our auction, people found many different ways to contribute to empowering a new generation in Rwanda. It was fun to watch people use their creative juices and take ownership. Individuals make up almost 60% of our yearly giving.
If you still haven’t gotten involved why not make 2008 the year you take the plunge and join us in transforming a nation! Stay tuned in early January 2008 for some unique ways that you can get involved, including a new Ambassadors program, a Community-to-Community program, and our monthly donors program. Until then, have a wonderful Christmas holidays and don’t forget to get your 2007 donations in before December 31st if you are looking for a 2007 tax receipt. On behalf of the whole Wellspring Team, Richard Taylor
