A Bridge to Rwanda

The last several days have been busy engaging with the Bridge Church in Fresno during their annual Missions Month.  I have never been at a church that has such a strong commitment to missions.  Since 1987 they have focused on many different countries and projects.  This year they are seeking to raise $68,000 for the Wellspring Academy, fill a container with books and other supplies, and support a ministry to Rwandan widows.

The church has enthusiastically embraced this project.  They have put together amazing promotional materials, invited me into their homes to share personally, and already raised over $20,000 in the first week.   Yesterday I finished preaching four services after our expected speaker, Arthur Karuletwa, was delayed in Rwanda.  The focus was the Hope that is rising in Rwanda as God works through his people there.

Dr. Nicholas Hitimana arrived safely on Sunday night.  He will be here for a week meeting with people and sharing his story.  He is lucky because next week he gets to preach all four services!  Already he has taken part in a women's banquet where 275 women raised over $11,000 for the widows that he works with through Ikirezi.

It is truly a blessing to fellowship with other believers in such an intimate way.  I feel humbled by all that God is doing here in Fresno and by their desire to be involved in what God is doing in the world.
