Several of Wellspring Academy’s teachers were at school yesterday afternoon doing final preparations for the first day. Even though it was Sunday evening, Alex, a Teaching Assistant for Foundation Year, pleasantly reported: “We are getting ready for the VIPs!” Sure enough, this morning the school was hopping with almost 300 VIPs. Wellspring Academy was a bustle of excitement as new and returning In the upper classes, students who had attended Wellspring last year were happy to connect with friends again, but the little five-year olds in Foundation Year were a bit unsure of this whole school thing. As per usual, there were a couple young sweeties who were quite put out that mommy and daddy would just leave them in this strange new place! By the end of the day, though, everyone had settled into their classes and felt more at ease. Most things ran as smoothly as could be expected on the first day back at school, but no matter how well you try to prepare, hiccups are inevitable. To be honest, Wellspring Academy encountered some pretty big hiccups of its own and we would like to ask you to pray with us for God to provide a solution. Two of the classroom teachers who had been at school preparing on Friday simply didn’t show up this morning. Obviously not having a teacher is not a good thing, but it was a blessing to see the way the school administration gracefully handled the situation as best they could. It was quickly arranged for the language teachers to step in and pick up the slack. Despite not having any time to prepare, they cheerfully jumped in to help and made the first day a success for the students in those classes. A solution is currently being worked on and we are so thankful for the way God brings people forward to serve. A few missionary moms have been willing to allow God to use them in the next while to teach some lessons and Wellspring Foundation Trainers are also putting their training into action by getting back in the classroom. Their lessons will be videoed and used as a personal teaching tool to see how well they are implementing the values they encourage other teachers to integrate into lessons. The school is continuing to look for a long term solution of finding a classroom teacher so please pray with us for two good English speaking teachers to be found. We are confident that God cares deeply for His little VIPs and we are trusting in Him to provide teachers who will instruct them for His glory. |
