Meet our Board of Directors

David Knight

David Knight:
It is my hope that Wellspring will bring schools and teachers to express words that demonstrate trust and belief. More importantly the children will learn how to think for themselves and recognize that it is your love that will bring unity and reconciliation to this torn land, Lord; make whole this Rwandan heart and give all the knowledge of your salvation.

David is the Conference Services and Operations Supervisor at Trinity Western University and is the Chairman of the Board for Wellspring.

Bettie Ainslie

Betty Ainslie:
Education is such an important aspect of a person’s life. It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to assist those who because of a tragedy have no hope of achieving an education on their own. I am particularly supportive of a program where people are helped to become self sustaining rather than just continuing to provide a service for them.

Betty recently retired as a Senior Administrator with Focus on the Family Canada and currently serves on the board of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities.  She lives with her husband Don in Surrey, B.C.

Edgar Luck

Edgar Luck:
Education is foundational to being able to not only support oneself but also invest in your community. Having the right 'life long' attitude toward learning is of utmost importance. It is within this context that fully supporting a values based educational initiative in one of the most needy nations in the world inspires and engages my very being. Trust you also will make it a priority.

Edgar is a professional accountant working as the CFO of a fish feed manufacturer in Surrey, British Columbia. More importantly he has had the privilege of being married to Barbara and together are raising their two wonderful kids, Allicia and Andrew. Most importantly he has lived in the reality of his personal friend and risen Jesus Christ, for most of his life.

Rod Binder

Rod Binder:
Proverbs 22:6 says: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” I believe this with all my heart. I am honored to serve with the men and woman at Wellspring and invite you to join us on this mission to change a country that is ready for renewal through education. They have survived one of the most catastrophic events that could ever touch humanity and they need and deserve our help.

Rod is a Manager and Account representative at Teldon International. He has been married to his patient, generous and caring wife Liane for over 16 years. Together they have two children, Amber and Austin.

Brenda and Murray

Gerry Malnis
I think one of the biggest challenges to the developing world is the prevailing belief systems that individual nations hold, which cause them to be trapped in cycles of poverty.  One of my passions has been the importance of education in bringing about change in the individual, which in turn brings change to a community, a society, a nation, and ultimately the world.

Gerry is the owner and operator of a private auto parts business and serves as the Ministry and Resources Coordinator at Vernon Alliance Church.  He and his wife Shirley, who is equally committed to Wellspring, have two sons, Austin and Ian, and two daughter in laws, Emily and Carla.

Stephen Bennett

Stephen Bennett:
On the surface it would seem like disease, debt, famine, poverty, and civil war are the biggest problems in the developing world today. I think though that these are just symptoms of an even bigger issue. Education is the biggest problem facing the developing world today. Without education there will be no lasting answer to many of the challenges faced by many countries such as Rwanda. This is why I believe so strongly in Wellspring. Wellspring wants to address the symptoms by healing the root cause of the problem.

Stephen is the Executive Assistant to the CEO at Status Electrical Corporation and holds in Masters in Leadership from Trinity Western University.  He lives with his wife Kara in Abbotsford, BC.
